|Bye bye Germany|

Oh my god, I still can’t believe it that I’m gonna start my journey for about one year. It’s a weird feeling to leave everything and everybody behind.

The first difficult step was to leave my flat and my friends in Kiel where I studied for 2 years as well as to surrender my possessions. I sold everything I had – my whole furniture and all the stuff I haven’t used since a while and things, which are not really necessary to keep – also my beloved car. I wanted to be free of anything and of course, increase my money that I’ll spend on my journey.
Then I moved back to my parents’ house for some weeks with the rest of my stuff.
After the trip to New York City I had three more weeks to spend time with my family and friends. But now – I finally have to leave my home. On the one hand it’s a weird and kind of sad feeling but on the other hand I’m sooooo excited to go on with my plans.
The preparation for this journey was going on for a couple of months – including the organization of visas, insurance, travel documents, vaccinations, flights, accommodations and packing all the stuff I need for this trip.
All in all I have two backpacks with almost 30kg – I guess it will be hard to walk around with – especially in Singapore with about 35 degree 😀 but for New Zealand I need some warmer clothes and good hiking shoes due to the season, the temperatures and the outdoor activities. So after the first month in NZ my backpack will be lighter – hopefully.

Right now I’m sitting in the plane to Colombo, Sri Lanka where I’ll have a short stopover to change the plane to the next stop Singapore where I’ll meet my travelmate Timo for the first time. From there on we will travel together – which is actually really exciting due to the fact that we’ve never met before – just some phone calls 😀 But I’m really looking forward to it! After three nights in Singapore we are heading for Christchurch, New Zealand.
